Flags in Canada
The current Canadian flag came into being in 1965. The design, two red bars with a white bar in the middle, is taken from the flag of the Royal Military College in Kingston, which was established in 1876. France and England have had red and white as their national colours for many centuries, and they have been the Canadian national colours from 1921. The official Canadian Royal Flag is the Union Jack. For over a century, the Canadian flag was the Red Ensign. The provinces and territories have their own flags reflective of their individuality.
